Wachusett Mountain
Wachusett Mountain is considered the most accessible ski resort in New England, easily reached from Boston via the MBTA Commuter Rail Service, or alternatively it’s around an 80 minute drive from the city. The Wachusett Mountain itself has a 2006ft summit and 1000ft vertical drop with 27 exciting trails catering to all ski levels, plus 8 lifts. Highlights include a snowboarding school, children’s ski programmes, seasonal events and festivals, and superb dining spots.
Blue Hills Ski Area
This ski area forms part of the Blue Hills Reservation, and is the closest ski area to Boston less than a 30 minute drive from the city, so therefore perfect for a skiing day trip. Covering around 60 acres of ski terrain with a vertical drop of 309ft, 4 lifts, and 16 trails, it’s smaller than its neighbouring resorts, and is family-friendly offering a series of snowboarding and skiing lessons – perfect for those starting out their skiing journey. From the summit of Blue Hills there are stunning views of the city and coast, especially at sunset and in the evening during night skiing.
Nashoba Valley
The Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, Massachusetts is situated around a 45 minute drive from Boston, and it’s one of the easiest to reach. The full-service ski region has a vertical drop of 240ft with 10 lifts, 17 trails with lessons and rentals available, plus numerous other facilities including a snow tubing park with over 600 snow tubes, an on-site restaurant, and seasonal events and shows, to name a few.
