The capital of Qatar is Doha. It's in a prime location on the east coast of the country, overlooking the Persian Gulf. Doha is an affluent city offering accommodation in a wide choice of architecturally impressive, luxury hotels. There is haute cuisine at the city's restaurants and fast food in busy locations. Much of Doha's nightlife occurs at the city's hotels and usually includes live music. The city has several shopping malls selling designer brands, but there are also traditional markets. From museums and beaches to theme parks and skydiving, there are many entertaining activities to enjoy in Doha.

Doha city centre has many cultural attractions such as museums and art galleries that feature local and international exhibitions. Exciting leisure activities such as ice skating and bowling are at shopping malls such as City Center Doha. The amazing Gondalania theme park is in the Villaggio Mall. Its architecture is inspired by Venice and includes an indoor canal with gondola rides. There is also an Italianate Ferris wheel. City walks include the Corniche seafront promenade. The Souq Waqif is a historic Arabic market where a diverse selection of goods are sold including local delicacies, spices, and handmade souvenirs.
To the north of Doha is the Al Dakhira Nature Reserve. It has a unique coastal habitat of mangrove forests and salt-laden valleys known as sabkhas. Travel north-west of Doha to the Al Reem Biosphere Reserve. It's a UNESCO site that has a relatively lush landscape and wildlife such as the Arabian Oryx. Just south of Doha is the Khor Al Adaid, or Inland Sea. It's a vast desert comprising sand dunes. There are many organised trips including camel rides, sandboarding, kitesurfing, or driving over the dunes on quad bikes. Qatar has several sandy beaches including Umm Bab and Katara.
Qatar is famous for its hot weather where temperatures in July often exceed 41.5°C (106.7°F). January is the coldest with temperatures often around 20°C (70°F). March is the wettest month with 0.4 inches of rain.
