The Latest Air India News & Developments

Air India is in the process of its re-brand and has launched its all-new A350 experience on flights from Heathrow to Delhi, as well as a new in-flight safety video and music video. Read on to find out more.

Air India Customers Can Now Experience the New A350 to Delhi from London

Air India introduced the brand-new Airbus A350-900 on its twice-daily London Heathrow-Delhi route this month, and this flight service is the debut deployment of Air India’s rebranding and new flagship in-flight experience on long-haul flights, marking its transformation programme.

This flagship A350 aircraft will replace the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on a total of 14 of the airline’s weekly flights, and as a result, 336 more seats will be available on the London Heathrow-Delhi route each week.

This A350 aircraft introduces the brand-new Air India experience with a freshly renovated three-class cabin configuration, including the airline’s new Premium Economy product.

Flagship A350 Business Class

Air India Business class passengers can look forward to a luxurious flight experience aboard the A350-900. There are 28 private suites in this cabin with a 1-2-1 configuration, each of which offers direct aisle access, a privacy sliding door, a personal wardrobe, and generous stowage space, not to mention a 21” HD touchscreen and video handset. Passengers can stay refreshed with an exclusive Ferragamo amenity kit, and fly in comfort with a dedicated duvet, mattress topper, and premium wool blend blankets specially designed for Air India.

Flagship A350 Premium Economy

Premium Economy is now offered for the first time on the London Heathrow-Delhi route, and this upscale cabin offers 24 wide seats with plentiful legroom and a 2-4-2 configuration. Each seat boasts a 4-way adjustable headrest and leg rest with a foot paddle, and other in-flight amenities include exclusively designed TUMI amenity kits that have been refreshed to feature the Air India red colour.

Flagship A350 Economy

Economy class aboard Air India’s flagship aircraft has 264 seats with a 3-3-3 configuration, offering a comfortable flight experience boasting a 31” seat pitch, 17.5” seat width, and 6” recline, as well as a 4-way adjustable headrest, and a 12” HD touchscreen providing the airline’s new in-flight entertainment system that is available on all seats, offering over 3000 hours of entertainment available in 13 international and 8 Indian regional languages.

To complement Air India’s new flight experience aboard the A350 aircraft, cabin and cockpit crew will don their new uniforms that are designed by Indian couturier Manish Malhotra.

Air India’s New Brand Track & Safety Video

Air India recently unveiled its new signature track ‘India Takes Flight’, composed by Grammy awardee Shankar Mahadevan in collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, that was introduced to reflect Raga Yaman, a classical Indian raga, highlighting the vibrant and bold energy of India.  You can have a listen of Air India’s new sonic identity soundtrack here.

Air India also launched its new in-flight safety video ‘Safety Mudras’ which forms part of the airline’s new brand identity. The video celebrates classical Indian and folk-art dance forms, aiming to showcase the diverse Indian culture, and each of the dance forms represents a safety instruction with vital safety information provided in an informative, immersive, and engaging way. The safety video is accessible on the A350 aircraft and is being progressively introduced on the remainder of the airline’s fleet of aircraft.

New Route from London Gatwick to Bangalore

Air India recently launched a new five-times-weekly service to Bangalore from London Gatwick, which complements the airline’s existing services from Gatwick to Ahmedabad, Kochi, Goa, and Amritsar, totalling to 17 weekly flights from Gatwick. The new Bangalore service is operated by the airline’s B787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 18 flatbed business class seats and 238 economy seats.
