The Airline’s Travel-Ready Center
This state-of-the-art tool allows you to navigate through travel restrictions and entry requirements, search covid-19 testing requirements, upload and validate test results, and store travel documents such as vaccination records, ensuring you are cleared for travel. The app is accessible via desktop or on the United app and will provide you with a mobile ‘travel ready’ boarding pass once all necessary steps are taken. United plans on extending this tool to customers flying to the USA from the UK.
United CleanPlus
United Airlines has been awarded a Diamond status by APEX Health Safety for its cleanliness and sanitation. Travel with United and feel safe throughout your journey with the CleanPlus programme – the airline has introduced 2700 contactless check-in kiosks in over 230 airports across the globe, with over 1,200,000 total cleans performed. A recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Defense concluded that aircraft cabins are among the world’s safest public indoor environments, and the risk of COVID-19 exposure is close to zero with mask-wearing, air filtration, and cleaning protocols.
Agents on Demand
Passengers will be able to experience contactless virtual customer assistance with United’s Agent on Demand service. On the day of travel, this service connects passengers to an allocated airport customer service agent through video chat, call, or text. United is the first U.S. airline to launch this video-enabled service which is currently available at its seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
ConnectionSaver App
This is another smart tool offered by United offering new technology where it’ll scan flights for passengers with tight flight connections and then provide hold recommendation to departure gate handlers. The ConnectionSaver App also allows you to check the live status of the aircraft you are boarding, and what’s more, the app sends text messages to every connecting passenger at United hub airports with directions to the gate when connecting flights, and information on how long it will take to get there with step-by-step directions.
How the Airline Promotes Sustainability
United Airlines is commited to the community with a pledge to become 100% green by 2050. As part of this commitment the airline will be investing in a carbon sequestration project, including the capture and removal of 1 million metric tons of carbon from the atmosphere where it will be pumped underground and stay for millions of years. The airline will also be investing in sustainable aviation fuel through the Eco Skies Alliance and introducing the ES-19 supersonic electric aircraft to its future fleet.
