Check out the winners of this famous global event here…
The Skytrax World Airline Awards 2019 took place this week at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace du Bourget at the Paris Air Show, so the results are in and the public has had their say on their favourite airlines. The award ceremony is celebrating its 19th anniversary this year; it was introduced back in 1999 as a global satisfaction survey, and has now developed into the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey. The event is widely considered as the airline industry’s version of the Oscars; over 100 nationalities participate and over 300 airlines are featured.
And the World’s Best Airline goes to… Qatar Airways!
The most significant award to receive at this prestigious event is of course the World’s Best Airline, and this year Qatar Airways scooped this prestigious award. The world-class airline also won World’s Best Business Class, Best Business Class Seat and Best Airline in the Middle East, and it’s no wonder - have you experienced Qatar Airways Business cabin? If not then you’re missing out…
Qatar’s Q Suite offers unparalleled comfort, privacy and space, with a fully-lie flat bed, generous storage, advanced LED lighting, luxurious amenities, up to 4,000 in-flight entertainment options, a delicious on-demand à la carte menu, a spacious dining area and 100% cotton sleepwear from The White Company, as well as On Air mobile services and Wi-Fi on select aircraft.
Our recent competition winner John Eccleston had nothing but good things to say about the airline and was very pleased to receive a surprise upgrade. You can read all about it here. Well done Qatar Airways! We are greatly honoured to partner with the world’s best airline, and we also regularly receive excellent Qatar Airways flight deals for our customers.
Singapore Airlines was ranked 2nd on the World’s Top 10 Airlines, ANA All Nippon Airways came in at 3rd, Cathay Pacific was 4th and Emirates ranked 5th.
British Airways Wins Best Airline Staff in Europe
British Airways took home the accolade of Best Airline Staff in Europe at this prestigious event, and also won awards for the Most Improved Airline in Europe, Best Airline Staff in United Kingdom and Best Cabin Crew in the United Kingdom. BA staff are renowned for their warmth, friendliness and efficiency, and it’s clear to see that the airline delivers excellent services, both at the airport and on-board. The timing couldn’t be better either, what with it being the airline’s centenary year.
Singapore Airlines Recognised for its Luxurious First Class
It’s not all doom and gloom for Singapore Airlines; after all, they have ranked 2nd in the world’s best airlines which is an incredible achievement, and also won a number of other awards including the World’s Best Cabin Crew, World’s Best First Class, Best Airline in Asia and World’s Best First Class Seat. We are in love with SIA’s First Class cabin, especially the private First Suites, which have sliding doors, window blinds, a separate standalone bed, 23 inch personal monitor and full table service. It doesn’t get better than that!
Air Canada Wins Best Airline in North America for the Third Consecutive Year
Air Canada has kept its appeal going as the Best Airline in North America for the third consecutive year at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards. This is the 8th time in 10 years that Air Canada has scooped this prize, and the airline also won World's Best Business Class Lounge Dining, Best Airline Staff in Canada, Best Business Class in North America and Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in North America. A fantastic success for Air Canada - an airline that clearly knows how to enhance your travel experience!
Amazing Accolades
The Skytrax World Airline Awards release surveys that take many factors into consideration and a great number of other accolades were won this year, including the World’s Cleanest Aircraft Cabins which went to EVA Air, the World’s Most Improved Airline which was won by Philippine Airlines and the World's Best In-flight Entertainment, won by Emirates.
